Author Guidelines- For Manuscript Preparation

Cover Letter

Cover letter must be written and submitted by corresponding author. Please check the cover letter template here. Authors can either download the template, edit and submit or type their own letter. E-signature is acceptable.
Cover letter should be submitted along with the manuscript.

Abstract

Abstract should not exceed 250 words. Provide 3 to 6 keywords.

Graphical Abstract

Graphical abstract is not compulsory but encouraged to submit. Chief editor might inform the author(s) to submit the graphical abstract if its required for the manuscript. High resolution and clear graphical abstract should be place right after the abstract in the manuscript. Graphical abstract should be pictorial with limited words. The acceptable format is .jpg, .jpeg, .tiff.

Highlights

  • 3 to 6 bullet points 
  • Each point should not cross 100 characters including space. No special character used unless it’s necessary

Figure

Figures should be clearly structured with fewer words. Only high-resolution images with minimum of 300 dpi are accepted and the low-resolution images send back to the authors for improvements. Both figure caption and legends are required. Figure should be novel and not copied from previously published journal. Incase if authors used any images from the previously published article, then prior approval should be taken and mentioned in the manuscript where it is required. Failure to do may lead to removal of figure from the manuscript. Figure(s) should be placed right after the required statement and cited in the manuscript with proper figure number (s). Ex: (Figure 1)
Figure Format: .jpg, .jpeg, .tiff

Table

Table(s) should be uploaded separately. Table(s) must have a clear information with proper citation wherever it is required. Table(s) title should be mentioned. Table(s) should not have a paragraph wise statement. Table(s) should be placed right after the required statement and cited in the manuscript with table number, Ex (Table 1). If any abbreviations used in the table, then the full form of the abbreviations should be included below the table(s).

Ethical Approval

Authors are required to mention the animal ethical statement along with the approval number and name of the organization. If ethical approval is not required, then authors should mention the statement “Not applicable”.

Author Contribution

  • All the authors should contribute equally. All the authors hold the equal responsibility for the information provided in the manuscript. It is authors responsibility to read carefully and approve the final version of the manuscript before submitting it to the journal. All the authors must have showed an active contribution to prepare the manuscript like conception, design, data collection, figure/table development, interpretation, writing and reviewing etc. Participants solely in the acquisition of funding, experiments/instruments support will not be justified as an authorship.
  • Incase one or more authors contributed equally for the work should be marked with special symbol like ‘#’ in the author’s name in first page and their contribution should be included under the authorship section.
  • Big Science Publishers follows International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for authorship related approval. 
  • Authors are required to download and fill the Author Contribution Form and submit it along with the manuscript. In addition, author contribution section with statement should be present before acknowledgement section in the manuscript.
  • For clear transparency, the journal encourages to provide individual contributions by the authors. Authors full name must be provided as same as like in the title page. Authors should submit the contribution form along with the manuscript.
  • Contributions could be anything related to the manuscript preparation. For example: conceptualization, editing, development of figures, ideas, reviewing, investigation, methodology, writing etc.

Conflict of Interest

Big Science Publishers follows ICMJE regulation to report any conflict of interest https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/author-responsibilities--conflicts-of-interest.html. Corresponding author must fill and upload the ICMJE disclosure form (Click here to download the form) along with the manuscript even though there is no conflict of interest. Also, conflict of interest statement should be mentioned in the manuscript under conflict of interest section. If there is no conflict of interest, then authors should mention “There is no conflict of interest”.

Funding

Authors should provide the source of funding to perform this work and/or publish this manuscript. Funding details should be mentioned with the name of the agency/institute, approval number with month and year. If no funding has received, the following statement should be included under the funding section
‘This review work did not receive any funding or specific grants from any agency/institute in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors’.

Acknowledgement

Acknowledgements should be mentioned before reference section in the manuscript. Acknowledgements may include a support of funding, free sample, or any other related work contributed for the manuscript. Contributors those who did not meet the requirements for the authorship can be included here under acknowledgement.

Reference

  • Reference should be up to date. Do not cite any literature older than 5-8 years, until it is necessary. If journal finds its disappropriate, then journal have rights to advice authors to remove the reference.
  • Avoid self-citation.
  • Reference should be published or accepted for publications or in-press with any vol/issue/Pg no/doi
  • Reference should appear in bracket [1], [2,3], [4-6], [7-11] and sequentially ordered. Abstract/ conference proceedings should not be cited.
  • All the authors names should be mentioned. However, if more than 5 authors name, then mention et al, after the 5th author name
  • All the reference should be appeared at the end of the manuscript in the following format
Examples:
  1. For Journal: Author name. Title of the Paper. Name of the Journal. Vol ;(Issue): Year of Publication; Page no. DOI
  2. Book Chapter: Author name. Title. Editors. Place of Publish. Page number (Year)
  3. Webpage: Title. Webpage link (Accessed Date, Month, Year)

Title Page Information

  1. Title page should have clear article title, author name with affiliation and corresponding author email ID. Followed by abstract, keywords. (Please download the manuscript template)
  2. Title: Title should be clear, concise, and should not use any abbreviation unless it’s widely known.
  3. Author(s) name with affiliation: Author(s) name should appear as first, middle, and last name, with department, school/ institution/research lab, university, place with pincode, country name.
  4. Corresponding author mail id should appear after the author affiliation

Font Style and Size

Title of the article and all the headings like Abstract, Introduction etc should be 12 and subheading and content of the article should be 10 in size. Keep Times New Roman font style throughout the article.

Change/removal of authorship

Authors should carefully check the name, spelling and order of the authors name(s) before submission. In case, any correction/addition/removal in the author’s name should be communicated via corresponding author to the journal editorial office through mail. Authors will be having the chance to update the corrections till release of the final proofread. None of the corrections will be accepted once the article published in the online.

Reviewers’ suggestions

Authors are advised to suggest the potential reviewers. Authors should choose the reviewers according to the main focus of the article. Also, reviewers should not be your colleagues/same institution/have competing interest. Authors should suggest the reviewers from other institution/country/region, and make sure that there should not be any contact between any of the authors and the reviewers for at least 5 years.
Authors should not choose the reviewers from this journal editorial members. However, chief editor will finalize the selection of the reviewers after careful analysis.

Abbreviation

Abbreviations should be clearly explained at first place where mentioned. Try to avoid using abbreviations in the title/ abstract. Manuscript will be reverted back to the authors if any unexplained abbreviation found and that may affect delay in the publications.

Copyright and License

Published articles in Reviews in Pharmaceutical Sciences are distributed under creative common license (CC-BY 4.0). Read the information here https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
The journal allows the authors to hold the copyright of work and do not need to provide the copyright to the journal. However, the authors grant the permission and licence to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher.

Self-Archiving Policy

Journal allows author to self-archive, pre-print, post-print, proof-read and final published version of the article in any OAI-compliant repository.

The journal does not accept any commercial advertisements. Other than commercial advertisements, our advertising policy follows the principles mentioned in the Recommendations on Publication Ethics Policies for Medical Journals issued by the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Correction and Retraction

If any minor error(s) or correction(s) identified in the published articles, journal may contact the editors and the authors or authors institutions. Errors by the journal or authors may be resolved by erratum or corrigendum. If there is any significant error found in the published article may lead to retraction or demand an explanation. CrossMark initiated by CrossRef organization provides the standard information for the readers about the articles. By clicking the CrossMark logo will provide the current status of the article and other additional published article information. The current status includes new edition/ version, clarification, correction, erratum, corrigendum, retraction, withdrawal, removal, etc.

Digital Preservation

All the contents published in the Reviews in Pharmaceutical Sciences are preserved in Portico (an E-Journal Preservation Service), which provide the permanent digital archiving for electronic scholarly journals. Portico is a not-for-profit digital preservation service help journals to ensure that these materials remain accessible to future scholars, researchers, and students.

Article Processing Charges

Reviews in Pharmaceutical Sciences is a fully open access journal. Article processing charge (APC) for all the accepted manuscript is Rs 3000 INR (Indian Authors) and USD 35 (Foreign Authors). APC is only applicable for the accepted manuscript.

Misconduct Policy

If any breaches in our publication ethics policy suspected before or after publication should be reported to the journal. Claimants will be kept anonymous if requested.
As soon as we receive the misconduct information, journal editors will immediately start the investigation. Editor asks for an additional data, figures, supplementary files etc related to the misconduct reported. Journal might contact the authors institutions.
If an article found to violate the journal policies will be rejected immediately from the journal site or retracted based on the misconduct severity.
However, if it is a minor issue, authors may be informed to correct the error by corrigendum and journals by erratum.

Reviews in Pharmaceutical Sciences is a fully open access journal. The published articles will be freely available for the readers without any registration, subscription or payment.
Also, the journal encourage the authors for self-archiving the published articles in any OAI-compliant or subject based repository.

Peer-Review Process

Initial Scrutiny
Once the author submits the manuscript to the journal, chief editor/ expert editors will check the manuscript whether the manuscript meets the journal requirements and guidelines such as language, figure clarity, plagiarism, references, ethics, manuscript structure.
Insufficient originality, language error, not following the journal guidelines may lead to rejection without proceeding for the peer review. Manuscript with minor errors may considered for the peer review process once the errors has been corrected.
Peer review
Manuscript passed for the initial scrutiny will send to the peer review process. Minimum of two experts from the field of study(whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors) will thoroughly check the study integrity.
Reviewers can be suggested by the authors. Please note that the suggested reviewers should have an extensive knowledge in the field of study with good academic background and publications. However, authors should not have a direct or indirect contact with the suggested reviewers. Editor-in-Chief may consider the suggested reviewer for the peer review process and reserve the rights not to consider the list of suggested reviewers.
Editorial Review and Decision
Expert reviewers’ comments will be carefully analysed by the Chief Editor. Chief Editor decision is final on the manuscript revision or acceptance or rejection.
Chief Editor will communicate minor/ major corrections to the authors.
Authors must address all the comments with clarity. Pointwise reason/ clarification is required with the rebuttal document.
Authors should strictly follow the timeline for the revision and resubmission. If authors fail to submit within the time limit, the manuscript may not be considered for publication.
Proof-read and Publications
Proof-read of the accepted manuscript will send to the corresponding author for final approval.
Corresponding author should carefully check the manuscript and approve the proof-read copy within the time limit.
None of the corrections will be considered once the proof-read is approved.

Plagiarism Policy

Authors should ensure the originality of the manuscript. It is authors responsibility to check the plagiarism before submitting to the journal for publications. During screening process, if plagiarism detected, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. Moreover, in case authors used any work of others must be acknowledged properly in the manuscript.
If the plagiarism reported after publication may lead to permanent manuscript retraction from the journal and informed to the author, co-authors, funding agencies, and institution accordingly.
